A fraction of people witnessing the Paul McCartney show. Went in with low expectations, left in awe.

Not often enough do I truly appreciate how blessed I am to live in this beautiful country.

Cory Branan – Mutt
Sometimes you listen to a record that’s so closely tied to an experience – this is one of those records.
Late December, 22 degrees Celsius, coffee in hand, waiting for the record store to open.
Seconds later the fluorescent sign illuminates “Open,” and I walk into the silent store and start browsing their stock. It’s a small shop filled to the brim with old records in amazing condition. The lone employee chooses his selections for the morning and flicks a switch to start warming up the vintage tube amp. Minutes later Cory Branan’s “Mutt” starts playing through the shop speakers. I’ll never forget hearing the first chords of “The Corner” softly enveloping the room. I take my time browsing the collection, mostly priced around one to eight dollars. Hours later I’m ready to check out with a pile of vinyl. I exit the store, roll the windows down in my white Buick boat, and soak in my last afternoon in Phoenix. Months later I’m still revisiting my trip to Phoenix through this fantastic record, and years later I’m sure nothing will have changed. I return to Phoenix every time my Pro-Ject spins Cory Branan.

A.M. Overcast – Lexicon Palace
Finally, a physical release by A.M. Overcast.
“Lexicon Palace” is the follow up to A.M.’s 2013 release “Pellow,” which was one of my favourite records of the year.
Good luck in BC Alex!
